Letter from the Dean

The Academic Affairs webpage is a milestone in our efforts to improve internal communication at the college. It has been designed as a comprehensive, easy-to-use resource for all CCA faculty and staff. You will find here a variety of important information, downloadable forms, and links. It is our hope that this webpage will make all of our jobs more efficient as well as saving valuable resources.

The menu on the left side of the page provides an overview of the contents. The Academic Affairs Newsletter, issued by the Provost each summer and winter, provides a summary of new developments in our area. Here you can learn about administrative changes, faculty appointments as well as retirements and separations, news about facilities and technology, and accreditation updates. The Who’s Who page provides contact information for the Academic Affairs staff on both campuses.

We have consolidated all information and forms related to faculty development, including grants, special lectures, events, and external opportunities. The college is devoting increased resources to faculty development and we hope that more faculty will now be able to take advantage of these important opportunities. I’m pleased to announce that this year we will launch the Deans’ Colloquium, a series of four open forums on timely subjects designed specially for CCA’s faculty.

Faculty can also find on the Academic Affairs web page information concerning promotion and review. For Chairs, we have made available downloadable New Hire and New Course proposal forms as well as guidelines for supporting faculty promotion. Both Chairs and faculty will find useful documents pertaining to course planning, including a syllabus template and a list, with definitions, of the college-wide learning outcomes. Faculty governance should become much more efficient, effective, and transparent with easily accessible lists of all members of standing committees, meeting schedules, and minutes (with the exception of APT).

You will find here, too, downloadable Faculty Record Report forms as well as W-9’s, honoraria requests, and other forms. We have provided a full calendar of events, with upcoming programs appearing to the right at the very top of the main web page. Finally, you can find information on our various accrediting bodies as well as current reports and schedules of upcoming campus visits.

I look forward to hearing any feedback you may have so that we can continue to improve this new and important online resource.
